چکیده

In this paper we consider the train unit shunting problem extended with service task scheduling. This originates from Dutch Railways, which is main railway operator in Netherlands. Its urgency stems upcoming expansion of rolling stock fleet needed to handle ever-increasing number passengers. The consists matching units arriving on a yard departing trains, scheduling tasks such as cleaning and maintenance available resources, parking trains tracks that can operate conflict-free. These different aspects lead computationally extremely difficult problem, combines several well-known NP-hard problems. paper, present first solution method covering all problem. We describe partial order schedule representation captures full local search algorithm utilizes ordering. proposed compared an existing mixed integer linear program computational study realistic instances provided by Railways. show our solve real-world complete It even outperforms current algorithms when considered isolation, is, without tasks. Although was developed for case it applicable any or location, irrespective its layout, uses self-propelling does not have passing trains.

Genetic Algorithm with Local Search for Job Shop Scheduling Problem

The job shop scheduling problem (JSSP) is a well-known difficult combinatorial optimization problem. This paper presents a hybrid genetic algorithm for the JSSP with the objective of minimizing makespan. A new generation alternation model of genetic algorithm for JSSP is designed. Every pair of randomly selected parents must pass either crossover or mutation, which are deployed in parallel. In ...

Local Search Procedures in a Multi-Objective Genetic Local Search Algorithm for Scheduling Problems

We have already proposed a multi-objective genetic local search algorithm for finding nondominated solutions of multi-objective optimization problems (Ishibuchi & Murata 1998). In our hybrid algorithm, a local search procedure is applied to each solution generated by genetic operations (i.e., selection, crossover, and mutation). Since our optimization problem involves multiple objectives, the a...

A novel local search method for microaggregation

In this paper, we propose an effective microaggregation algorithm to produce a more useful protected data for publishing. Microaggregation is mapped to a clustering problem with known minimum and maximum group size constraints. In this scheme, the goal is to cluster n records into groups of at least k and at most 2k_1 records, such that the sum of the within-group squ...

A Hybrid Algorithm using Firefly, Genetic, and Local Search Algorithms

In this paper, a hybrid multi-objective algorithm consisting of features of genetic and firefly algorithms is presented. The algorithm starts with a set of fireflies (particles) that are randomly distributed in the solution space; these particles converge to the optimal solution of the problem during the evolutionary stages. Then, a local search plan is presented and implemented for searching s...

A two-phase approach for real-world train unit scheduling

A two-phase approach for the train unit scheduling problem is proposed. The first phase assigns and sequences train trips to train units temporarily ignoring some station infrastructure details. Real-world scenarios such as compatibility among traction types and banned/restricted locations and time allowances for coupling/decoupling are considered. Its solutions would be near-operable. The seco...
